SAS ECA AIMS & OBJECTIVES
Purpose
Although the school day ends at 2:30 am, opportunities for children to enrich their learning continue after school from 2:40 pm. Samakee has a variety of after ECAs available, and every attempt is made to make these clubs relevant and motivating for students. ECAs are reviewed and adjusted on a termly basis and are in line with student interest and availability. ECAs focus mainly on Middle and Upper School students; however, a small number are open to younger children, if appropriate to the needs of the child. SAS teachers and outside instructors lead ECAs.
At Samakee, we strongly encourage all students to participate in activities outside the usual curriculum, as it helps them to explore diverse interests and gain valuable skills. Each term, we offer a wide range of activities to take place in the afternoon after the timetabled school day is over, with most running from 2.40 pm to 3.30 pm.
At the end of the initial signup phase, places are allocated to ensure everyone's preferences are fairly taken into consideration. You will then be notified of which places your child has been allocated. Following this, you will be able to modify those ECAs should you wish, subject to alternative places being available.
Please Note:
If an ECA run by school staff cannot take place due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances, there will be no make-up session.
If an ECA session led by external providers cannot take place, every effort will be made to schedule a make-up class. If this is not possible, you will be refunded for that session.
We understand that some children may sign up for an activity, which they then decide is not right for them. We allow a two-week period in which changes can be made. After week 3, no changes in ECAs will be allowed.
It is important to note that only clubs that have a sufficient number of students showing interest will open this term.
